Description

The Courtyard Theatre Ltd is an established, renowned and much loved London off westend theatre, which also runs its own theatre training company.

We have relocated our theatres and some of its training work to the Grade II listed original Hoxton Library. It has 7,000sq ft of performance areas, gallery and rehearsal space, just a stones throw from Hoxton Square and only 2 mins from Old Street.

Included are a spectacular main house theatre seating 150 and a studio theatre of 80 seats. The new complex also features a huge 18 metre length rehearsal room with 4.5m ceiling height and buckets of natural light as well as a host of smaller spaces. Our new addition to the theatre is the ambient Iambic Bar with a distinctive choice of Italian wines often accompanied with occasional live music.

In addition to these features the Courtyard has paid special attention to the DDA guidelines and has installed full disabled access to all parts of the premises with disabled toilets, lifts and ramps to accommodate all members of society, including the elderly.

Anna and Rose

Anna and Rose "Weapons of Mass Seduction" is based on a true story from 1920s North Africa, about the first death penalty sentence for women, following a mass killing spree by two serial killing sisters; that shook the country.
Anna and Rose "Weapons of Mass Seduction" stages a suspense filled performance; setting the scene in Casablanca, at the heart of the French Colonialism; amidst a seductive and sensual blend of Belly dancing and Flamenco.

Showing the unity of diverse cultures, with passionate romance between prostitutes and government officials, the show is an unforgettable tragic comedy with surprises and laughter at every step. A rollercoaster ride of heart rending, Spanish and Moroccan styled drama.

Martha, Josie and the Chinese Elvis

What do you get when you cross a dominatrix, and an obsessive-compulsive with a part-time transvestite and Elvis Presley? It’s the Feast of Epiphany and Josie’s 40th Birthday. An Elvis impersonator has been booked as a surprise, but the surprise turns out to be much more than everyone had bargained for when her dead daughter shows up. Outrageous, irreverent, uplifting and very funny, this beautiful Charlotte Jones’ play is a burlesque that conjures the transformation of six very flawed people and their curious lives.

One Minute

One minute she was there, the next minute...
How can an eleven-year-old girl go missing from the heart of a city of 9 million people?

How can her mother begin to grieve and the police begin to help when there's no clear case and the only witness is no longer sure what she saw?

Colin Tierney heads the cast in this beautiful, evocative and moving piece - the first major revival of One Minute by Simon Stephens, Olivier award-winning writer of On the Shore of the Wide World and Harper Regan.
