Description

CHAAT is an exciting new concept, bringing food and the arts together. The tapas style menu is influenced by home cooked Bangladeshi food. Dishes like ‘thenga’ (succulent fish pieces in a tomato and mango sauce) are complemented with the fresh spinach salad drizzled in mustard and Bangladeshi lemon dressing.  The food here is truly about quality and not quantity. Not to mention the occasional special like the oven baked mackeral masala.

CHAAT can undertake outside catering and provided nibbles for a recent Autograph exhibition.

CHAAT is a participating First Thursday gallery and has worked with Guerrilla Zoo, Alessio Paratorie and Lili Phelouzat. Perfect for its location on Redchurch St.

You can enjoy a late drink until 12am in the week and until 2am at the weekend. Live Acoustic sessions (Penny Black Remedy) and DJs (Brand New Beat) play regularly at the weekend. And if the carafes of wine don’t encourage you to drink sensibly perhaps the gorgeous teas will. CHAAT re-introduces tea; all served by the pretty pot including CHAAT’s own ‘Sylhetea’, an aromatic black tea infused with cloves, cardamom and cinnamon.

Blurring the Lines that Radcliffe Drew: Photographic exhibition 02.10.08 - 04.12.08

In 1947 India was divided into 3 sections. Sir Cyril Radcliffe was the man responsible for drawing the hurried lines splitting India, West Pakistan and East Pakistan (now Bangladesh). Ultimately this dictated where people from these nations should live. This exhibition by Aiyaz Ahmed shows photographs from these countries and reveals the many similarities and differences which unite them.

Photographs in the exhibition are for sale at £45 each.
