Shoreditch Trust’s annual arts festival returns this year with two themes: sport and arts. And in the month we welcome the 2012 Games to our borough, this winning combination couldn’t be more apt.

From 16 to 24 August 2008, Shoreditch Trust presents a wonderful programme of cultural and physical activities in and around Shoreditch Park.

The Lift: an innovative and stunning portable arts venue which will be based in Shoreditch Park throughout the Festival. Shoreditch residents will be entitled to a special rate at all ticketed events in The Lift.

Celebrate our borough by taking part in the first Tour de Hackney. Showcasing the best of Hackney in its first ever mass-participation cycling event, residents will have the chance to enjoy the borough’s green spaces and explore the cycle routes from their bicycle saddles.

And on the historic day that host borough Hackney officially welcomes the Olympic Games to London, Shoreditch Festival and London Borough of Hackney presents Hackney Handover – a spectacular celebration with a street party which looks back to 1948 with art commissions, live music, and games which look forward to 2012, in Shoreditch Park. A day not to be missed!
